I'm pretty sure 'Altman' means 'old man ('alt', 'mann') in German. So you're not too far off! :)

Haha, well I hope not! Last week there was a letter from a woman who threw a neighbourhood/family halloween party (attended mostly by kids) and invited her brother and sister-in-law. After arriving at the party, SIL went into the bathroom and snorted a line of coke. The letter-writer's brother (the husband) said that

Hmmm. You don't by any chance read Dear Prudie on Slate, do you?

I don't really understand what they're doing with Raj's character. Are they setting him up to come out at some point (if so, they're a bit heavy-handed with the stereotypes, I think)? Or is it supposed to just be poking fun at those stereotypes (in which case, Oliver is sort of playing along in his review)?

I'm glad someone else noticed it - I couldn't believe it as I was watching it. He came off as kind of cruel, watching his daughter work so unbelievably hard to impress him and giving nothing in return - especially since the return would have been so easy for him to give (I mean, it took him all summer to tell Sue he

Hahaha, no worries, vicks - I'm right there with you in 'taking the issues too seriously.' I was starting to get a little emotional at one point with the whole Sue/Mike thing. Had to pull it back a little and remind myself that these aren't real people! :P

Hahaha! I did the same thing :P

vicks - that's the only thing that reeeeally bothered me last week. Her dad was almost cruel to her. And yes, I know it's his character, and he did tell her he loved her in the end. But she was SO pathetic and SO desperate - and he was SO cold and SO annoyed by her - that I found that storyline kind of chilling. And

Did one of the Parks & Rec writers screw some Emmy bigwig's mom or something? Is the entire voting committee composed of Modern Family writers? Because (as Al Swearengens Suspenders said below) WHAT. in the ACTUAL. F%$K?
