So I'm going through my iPod alphabetically by artist and just picking an album to listen to. No real reason to it, other than to shake myself out of my usual habits and listen to things I don't usually think to listen to. So with a lot of these artists I have a lot of their albums, but I'm picking ones I don't…
Just saw Explosions in the Sky play live this past week, which was awesome. Also, been listening to a lot of Nick Drake.
Haggis is delicious.
I love all of Spoon's albums to some degree and really liked They Want My Soul. I've not heard Hot Thoughts yet but I hope to soon.
Finished up my journey through Pearl Jam's discography to coincide with Steven Hyden's podcast series on the band, tackling the final three of Pearl Jam, Backspacer, and Lightning Bolt. I had never listened to anything after Yield more than once (if at all), and I was impressed with how good some of the more recent…
Not much change from last month, except I took a break and read The North Water by Ian McGuire, which I mostly loved. Otherwise, still reading:
Yeah, I have to be in the right mood for most stoner metal, so when I listen to Sleep I normally throw on Dopesmoker. Not sure I'd even listened to Holy Mountain from front to back before, but it's good stuff.
It also makes pretty good "it's early in the morning and the baby is still asleep, so I want something quiet and mellow that just blends into the background" music.
Father John Misty's Pure Comedy
Also just found out that Milk Music put out a new album, so I need to dig into that.
Yeah I've never listened to the albums after Yield very much so this is a great reason to go back and really dive into them.
Looking back I see that I explained that poorly, but no, I have many Stones albums. I'm going through and listening to just one album from each artist. In most cases I'm trying to select an album I don't listen to as often if there's more than one. No real reason other than just to shake up my listening habits.
Continuing through Pearl Jam's discography with Steven Hyden's podcast series on the band, it's been No Code, and Yield.
It has been, although today's "prophecies" piece could have been much better if some real time had been put into it. It came off as very half-baked to me.
Been listening to Radiohead's OK Computer in observance of the album's 20th anniversary this week (for the Japanese release, according to Wikipedia, but let's not split hairs). Also going back through Pearl Jam's discography with Vs. while listening to Steven Hyden's current podcast series on Pearl Jam. Vitalogy up…
I was working my way through the show for the first time last year and was into the third season, but I haven't touched it since the election. Seems like too much of a naive fantasy land at this point.
"Andrew In Drag" was a fun, catchy pop song.
Agreed, especially for "The Whale Song". A top ten, possibly top five MM song for me.
I've seen him perform "Timorous Me" that way when coming back from an encore break a few times, and it's great every time.
