I thought the "Sicario" score was fantastic. It really ratcheted up the tension in that film. That said, no way do I see it winning.

A perfect example of an otherwise generally terrible movie being saved by one fantastic performance.

This is what drives me crazy. Yes, Cincinnati ended up looking terrible, but so did the Steelers. Dirty hits. Personal fouls. Dancing on the Bengals logo on midfield while Gio Bernard lay motionless on the turf with a head injury. Coaches talking trash to and in one case pulling the hair of a Bengals player.

How is Nostromo? It's on my list for this winter. I love Heart of Darkness and have also read The Secret Agent, but I couldn't get into Lord Jim and I'm hoping I won't have the same experience with Nostromo.

I also read And Then There Were None, which was my first Christie novel. Sure, the whole premise is absurd, but it was still a great read.

He definitely wrote the story about a guy putting his stuff on the lawn ("Why Don't You Dance?") but I don't remember one about a picture like that.

Speaking of Lonesome Dove, how important is it to read the other books in that series before LD?

I read GG a year and a half ago, and it's still my only Pratchett. Looking for recommendations on which book to read next. Been leaning towards Mort since I liked the character of Death in GG so much, but I'm open to suggestions.

Same here. Parts of it were brilliant, parts were a slog, and I know there's a ton of stuff under the surface that I missed, but I don't know when I'll have either the time or a shorter "To-Read" list to tackle it again.

Add Heartless Bastards to that list as well.

I think it actually came out in 2014. That's my guess, anyway, cause I haven't seen it on any lists.

Didn't work in any of them for me.

See, I'm the opposite anymore. I never get around to playing games (hello there, barely touched copy of "The Last of Us") because I'm watching or reading something instead.

Leo

Saw him on a solo tour back in 2007 and it was awesome. Of course, ending the last encore with "Slaves and Bulldozers" was enough right there to earn a thumbs-up from me.

The lounge/jazzy version of Sex Type Thing on their Unplugged performance is a thing of beauty:

Skip to somewhere between 20 and 21 minutes for STT.

I haven't pulled out that first Velvet Revolver album in years, but having never seen STP, I'm glad I at least got to see him perform live with VR.

That was kind of done already in the mid-to-late 70s with remakes of "Farewell My Lovely" and "The Big Sleep" starring Robert Mitchum, although TBS was updated to present day, relocated to England, and generally awful. The FML remake was pretty good, though.

It's an amendment to the state constitution, not a regular law. So yes, while the amendment could also be changed in the future, it isn't nearly as easy to do so.

Nope, it's not going to pass. Between the people who are against pot legalization no matter what and those who are pro-legalization but think this monopoly is terrible, i think it's going to fail decisively.
