Still reading Anna Karenina and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Also been reading some of John Cheever's short stories.

I agree. It worked just fine as beach reading material.
I'd say "HTH" is still the best bio for Cobain, those problems aside, while Everett True's "Nirvana" is the best book on the band as a whole (though you could definitely make some valid criticisms of his book as well). Oh, and I'd throw in Mark Yarm's superb "Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge" for…
Heavier Than Heaven has had its fair share of criticism as well, largely due to Courtney Love's heavy involvement and the account of Cobain's final moments that borders on outright fiction.
Hey man, you leave Francis Bacon out of this!
I felt the same way about TPOG. Loved the first half and then the second got bogged down a bit in long, preachy speeches. I get that Zweig was trying to capture the post-WWI, pre-WWII feeling in central Europe at the time, but at times it could be a slog.
Makes me glad that IV is the only Pynchon I've read so far (I plan to read more) if it is considered a minor work, since I loved it.
I really want to both watch Stalker and read Roadside Picnic. Any recommendation about which to do first?
The first Bradbury I read was Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles in my mid-to-late-20s and enjoyed both of them. Then I struggled through Something Wicked This Way Come and abandoned Dandelion Wine early on, and decided that I had simply discovered his more nostalgia-tinged works too late in my life to enjoy…
The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L. Shirer. Very detailed and thorough without being dry or dull. Definitely going to take me at least several more months to get through, though.
DIS-qualified!
The covers of last year's record and singles left it off entirely; just Bonnie Prince Billy. I don't think we've settled on anything.
Yeah, really surprised to see Ida excluded.

Maybe so, but we still get occasional treats like Sean in some of the taste-testing videos.
How dare you attempt to deny us Sean O'Neal on camera!
Hey, I'm binging Banshee right now!!
I'm with you on the Built to Spill exclusion.
Can't believe I forgot Feedbacker, and Rainbow too. Yep, they have other great albums both before and after the 00s.
