Ugh, the Bengals are just terrible this year. Actually, they weren't good last year either, but the soft schedule helped. Now they've lost the past two games on what should be easy part of their schedule. This fall/winter is going to be brutal.

You've just jinxed them. Thanks a lot.

I too just finished Deadwood a month ago. I miss all the great characters, although it least the timing was good: I finished just in time for Boardwalk Empire and Homeland to start back up.

Not sure what the complications are, but I'm very jealous of you (possibly?) seeing Swans. And I'm loving the new GY!BE album too.

I'm about a quarter of the way in, and I would agree so far.

Watched the following movies in the last week: Diamonds are Forever, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (re-watched), Dead Man, Glengarry Glen Ross, Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara, and started Unforgiven (yes, the best of the 90s list had some influence here).

Nearly finished with Lolita and will hopefully finish with it on the bus ride home today. The narrative is becoming a little harder to follow as the narrator becomes more unhinged (also didn't help that I was dead tired reading it this morning).

How accessible is Man in the High Castle for someone who has never read any of his work? If that's not a good place to start, what is?

How did you like Slaughterhouse Five?

I assumed the first UT came out in the early 2000s, but you're right, it was '99. Great game.

Oh man, CS and Starcraft. So great. I don't care (and also have virtually no idea) what people might say about games today, but the 90s were a freakin' golden age of video games. Personally, my experience was mostly limited to PC, N64, and Gameboy games, but wow, was it incredible:
