"Three lawsuits brought by men who said former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash sexually abused them when they were underage were tossed out by a judge who said in a decision published Monday that the men waited too long to sue."

Did you edit your comment? When I originally replied to you I could swear it referred to all of them settling out of court. That's all I was responding to.

It's pretty shockingly dumb. There's any number of basic research failures (like, how far apart places are), the main character is so prudish she calls her genitals "down there", and if you're not a complete moron it's very clearly describing an abusive relationship.

He's clearly history's greatest monster.

The cases against Clash were thrown out because the statute of limitations had expired. I don't think that really counts as exonerated.

I haven't actually seen anything confirming that the judge was going to give him more jail time, except Polanski saying that he "knew" that was going to happen without saying how he knew it. And if the deal terms were actually changed by the judge, Polanski would have then had the option to withdraw his plea and

We do have one, but extradition treaties in general don't cover all crimes. For years, for example, Switzerland didn't consider tax evasion to be a serious crime so they wouldn't cooperate with US investigations. France may not consider fleeing a jail term to be a serious enough crime to extradite.

I read a great book about NK last year (Nothing to Envy) and she mentions near the end that ordinary NK soldiers don't even have socks. I'm not sure their military is all it's cracked up to be.

It has something to do with the terms of each country's extradition treaty with the US. That said, I'm also not sure that the Polish government itself would be grabbing him. I think Interpol would do it. But I am not an international law talking guy, so I might have that wrong.

Only one woman sued and settled with him. The rest of the women that were involved were witnesses only - IIRC their cases were outside of the SOL for civil suits.

I read elsewhere that he wants this pardoned or whatever so he can direct a film in Poland without the risk of being extradited.

Oh, good points. Those are both obnoxious.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't think disqus is that bad. It's just the right amount of simple: threaded, can collapse, people are identifiable, can organize comments multiple ways. It's buggy as shit, that's the only thing I think is really wrong with it.

"the GOP did release a statement calling for Sony to cancel the movie’s release"

They only got online last year.

That would explain Kinja.

We're the hooligans…

Isn't that just SVU?

Oh, of course it's not his responsibility. It would just be a better use of whatever clout he has and make for better PR.
