Opening scene
Count me among those who found the opening scene poorly done. Can we all agree that there was some very unconvincing fishing happening in that canoe? Those ladies looked like they barely knew what end to hold.

Zuni Fetish Doll, I had finally forgotten you from the fevered nightmares of my youth. Now you've returned and are….still pretty freaky.

McCreary is a hack

Eternal Sunshine and Something Wild
The first has all of those gorgeous romantic Jon Brion instrumentals and a very decent Beck/Brion collaboration. The second has a very funny David Byrne song and an eclectic mix that fits perfectly in the context of the movie and for Demme's work overall.

I enjoyed the show, especially towards the end
But it definitely was not as smart as it thought it was

In Soviet Russia the revolution of the proletariat frees our brethren from exploitative capitalism and surges towards a worker's paradise!

Busta Rhymes
Guy gets a lifetime pass from for his contribution to "Scenario" with Tribe Called Quest. Never very interested in his other stuff but that 1 minute stretch is something I can listen to on continuous loop all day.

Eno owned the 70s
Such consistently great output (producing and solo) for that decade

Psst, I'll let you in on a secret:
Gay people make fun of the the straights too. Haven't you all ever seen True Blood? And here's the other secret - it's perfectly ok to do so. Please calm down everyone. Making fun (even with a dumb, cliched joke such as in this case or 99.9% of True Blood) does not automatically

Had my money out
Until they mentioned Zellwegger. Boy is she a creepy one

Definitely a lazy ripoff, intentional or no
Also, 6 days is to short a time to screen a 150 minute movie? Couldn't get an intern to watch and give them some key lines? Hard to get too outraged about this but those are some lame-ass excuses

I think there's a scene in Firefox of Clint getting approached by his old fed handlers at his cabin in the woods. It is funny because it has become such a cliche.

Alternate Gladwell book titles:

I vote for Beef Supreme

"And Then He Kissed Me" for the Copacabana tracking shot.

The one thing that really rang false for me was Nucky saying "what does that mean?" As if "one who fucks his mother" is not self explanatory.

A complete rip off. Kind of disappointing because it wasn't likely an homage.

It's exactly like a Kubrick film except for editing discipline, narrative clarity and thematic complexity.

I (verb) on your (noun)

I smell ham cooking
and the munching of scenery
