The episodes in this season do not move me to the disgust that prompted such responses to the episodes of the early seasons.
I am not enough of a fan of the material the Tribble episode is based on for the episode to hold much appeal to me. Without that context, it is silly without being fun.

The Prime Directive is not entirely without merit but the extents to which it has been taken are morally indefensible. The Directive is treated, in later instances of Star Trek as far more of a doctrine of religious faith than a matter of public policy.

The unstated problem with the episode A Measure of a Man is that Data must have had legal status as a person in order to joint Starfleet in the first place.
It has been my experience that there is an inverse correlation between the knowledge of a viewer regarding a given subject and the tolerability of that subject when it is shown within Star Trek.
