1. I am not yet dead, although for how much longer that will remain true is uncertain. Even now, things do not necessarily go well. There are reasons this is phrased in a way that appears morbid.

Much less of value will be lost if nothing is said about the fourth year than if nothing had been said of the third.

If that is the impression you take, then please accept my apologies for what is written delivering the opposite impression from what is intended.

1. It has been discovered that Disqus has a length limit.

It was dark when I awoke.  I went to the balcony.  In the square below were thousands standing in silence, holding in their hands lights in the violet color of the Religious caste. I did not acknowledge them.  What I was here to do was not yet done.

Consider it a lesson that not all prophecies should be believed.

In those years I had certain fondness for romance novels, for the purposes of self-education in the Human traditions and rituals of courting.

It was several days travel from the Babylon station to the Sol system. There was little to do.  Until arrival, Sheridan and I were mostly passengers on an already fully crewed ship: the tenth and eleventh cards in a game designed for only nine.
