I'm fairly certain the sibling angle wasn't thought up until around the second or third draft of Jedi.

He doesn't get enough to do in Phantom Menace, but he's a lot of fun in Clones and Sith. He and Ian McDiarmid are the only two actors who ever look like they're having any fun in those movies.

I imagine that Guest resting on the laurels of his earlier mockumentaries is made way apparent by there having been 400+ episodes of The Office, Parks and Rec and Modern Family since the release of A Mighty Wind. This format just seems really played out.

Interestingly, one Depp's more well-received performances in recent years was his cameo at the end of the first Jump Street movie. And I'll bet a lot of younger people who saw that movie didn't know there was a TV show or that it starred Depp.

I laughed out loud at the reveal that he was playing himself in Pee-wee's Big Holiday. So he's alright in my book.
