It reads like an awful line in the review, but it wasn't played for laughs. It was played sort of creepy and weird (as it would be in real life) and led to a couple moments with some real heart for a pilot. It's hard to say where this show will go. If it plays to the worst lines and plots in the pilot, it could be

the worst was during the STD recitation. Four or five women said "He gave me ____" and the audience laughed louder at each one.

I think Todd's point wasn't that 2 Broke Girls was good, but that it had potential. I agree with that. The shoehorned Williamsburg references were a bit much and I agree about the billionaire learning wisdom part. On the other hand, the characters did show some heart and intelligence so I'm willing to give it a

If this isn't an "F," I have no idea what one would be.

Worse thing I have ever seen on TV. The show wasn't good before, but it was reliable one-liner machine.

Well said. Winchester was a bit broad at times, but it was well done having him actually be quite good at his job and having him eventually earn the other's respect because of that.

I think M*A*S*H (I admired your asterisk use so much I copied it) was helped by the format and the situation. It's the military in a war zone. It's more difficult to explain why people stay there for years than to explain them leaving. The situation lends itself to a certain amount of transition, whereas 2.5 idiots has

In all seriousness, this was so dire that I think they may be burning off shows by the end of the season. It takes a lot to hurt a network as relentlessly middlebrow as CBS, but they probably got their biggest audience in years with this and what that audience saw was a mean-spirited and unfunny collection of fart

It's on instant play on Netflix and I have been rewatching it this week. It's not perfect (I forgot how out of place and obnoxious the laugh track was and the will they/won't they stuff can be a bit obvious) but it is excellent. Definitely an unsung classic.

Exactly. It was put in to show that Nan is actually a bit of an idiot, and racist evidently.

"Me didn't make no baby with this me" was perhaps the most gloriously awful line in the history of a show with some of the worst dialog I have ever heard.

I should also point out that I have an "i" instead of an "I'd" before someone … well, you know ….

Getting there
This "season is picking up steam after a slow start. This episode was great. Leila with the cut spine was hilarious and the Avatar stuff at the beginning was really well done.

Ha, three comments up the 28 year old doctor spambot picked up my comment from a previous thread. Is that how it manages to be somewhat relevant? It picks comments from within the discussion?

That opening scene with the plane debris in the pool and the guys in Hazmat suits. The cross processed look whenever the cousins were wreaking havoc in the desert.

Really? The whole episode was devoted to a guy we met once before.

Your sarcasm is warranted. You've got it.

Cinematography
I was so impressed by the cinematography in the cold open. The show in general has the best visual imagery I ever remember seeing on TV. Can anyone think of something that might be better. BSG, Lost had their moments. Mad Men is really good right now, in a much different style. But, I can't think of

The cinematography in the cold opening was breathtaking. When the first bullet holes hit and we saw the light on Mike's face. Perfect.
