I watch it with my 12- and 14-y.o. sons, and it's one of the few DVR shows we wait until everybody is available to watch.

April Fools would explain a lot, but this series is going to have a long shelf life and several years from now few will remember that it aired on 4/1 when they try to figure it out.

I think Wackd is right, though I thought before reading the review that the initial video that came with the brick was channeling that nightmare-inducing scene from Event Horizon (the video of what happened to the previous crew — if you've seen the movie, you should be creeped out right now).

That was really funny, but I thought it was off-note having her make out with anything.  They never really show her in that light, even when she's being woo'd by the likes of Ricardio.  I can see doing it to cheese off the Ice King, but the show never shows her lay anything down beyond a chaste peck.

I was a little disappointed she didn't use any of those wonderful nonsense words the show substitutes for fuck and shit.  This was the perfect time for a tirade of Simspeak.

I didn't pick up on that until now, but I think its telling that the Ice King told Marceline to keep telling stories with the pretext that he wanted her to distract them while he scored baskets.  I don't think he is supposed to be aware of it, but he did the same thing in I Remeber You when he kept trying to get her…

Also, Gunther was ecstatic when Ice King sang the fries song.

They are pretty effective at 12 minutes, and that's probably the right amount of time for the lighter episodes anyway.  Also, it seems like the writers can make a half hour episode, or a 2-parter, whenever they want.

Given he said "balls" twice in this episode, I expected more when he covered L'il Marcy's ears.

Well, soup-only joints and food trucks are pretty ubiquitous, so I thought those were pop culture references.
