No good turn-based strategy games this year? Heroes of Might and Magic 6 is coming out, but maybe it's another disappointment like 5. Well, I guess I can still play Civ 4 for another 1000 hours before I get bored.

The much-derided leveling system was the only thing that allowed players off the railroad, so I liked it enough to ignore that bridge bandits all wore glass armor later on. And who cares about game difficulty when you have a slider?

It's not my favorite book, but I've read Confederacy of Dunces five times. It holds up every time. For those who think it's overly cynical and contemptuous of its characters, there is plenty of humanity in that book to balance it out.

After noticing my count fluctuate up and down by the thousands every few weeks, I just figured the counting system was fucked. They can do it with handhelds because the viewing screen is so small and is only viewed head on (because only one person is looking at it). Harder to do with bigger screens, bigger audiences, viewing it off center.
