@avclub-573185e7a57bcdcd68d7895cf83ffe66:disqus Shatner is more restrained in ST:II than any other Star Trek property he has been involved with. Nick Meyer would make him do take after take after take to wear him down and force him to act.

Here's a fun one to try to explain away: In TOS, every ship had its own logo on the uniforms. Suddenly in the movies and TNG everyone in the whole Federation has Enterprise's logo. Why?

Yeah. What I read is that the Democrats would have to average 7% better than the Republicans nationwide to win enough seats for a slim majority, due to the way that seats were apportioned this census cycle.

@jerodast:disqus Not British, but from what I've gathered, college in the UK is more like community college or a technical/vocational program.

I hate Diane Warren so much because the claw-my-ears-off-awful Enterprise theme song (originally from Patch Adams), so I checked. Nope. She didn't write those, but she did write other songs for Aerosmith: "Devil's Got a New Disguise", "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", and "We All Fall Down". Don't know two of those, but

Download Amazon Music Importer. It will scan your music library and any songs it can match, it will put in your cloud library. Any that it can't match it will upload. Supposedly it has pretty good success unless you've really messed with the ID3 tags. Unfortunately, if you want more than 250 non-purchased songs, it

@avclub-da496e2db2e50a068b4ae5549d4ae1b0:disqus My music library is bigger than my phone can hold, so I don't sync a lot of the content I've bought through Amazon, and if I want to listen to those songs I use the Cloud Player app.

@avclub-057859d502ee9201857e867efb89d225:disqus Google is planning a scan and match feature that should be rolling out soon. The shitty thing with it is that it won't be retroactive. So if you already have your library in it, you'll have to delete everything on Play, download the new scanning app, and let it re-upload

One of the changes in Mac OS 10.8 is delta (patch) updates. To the best of my knowledge, Mac OS is the only major OS that does that. I don't think Windows does it (nor have I seen any sign of it when I have to run Windows update), and although it's been talked about for years, I'm pretty sure no Linux distribution

Hey, if they need more money, they could let Americans pay a license fee (or partial license fee) and let us have iPlayer.

@persia2:disqus The DVDs have Sagan doing outros about what had changed between the original airing and late 90s. I'm guessing it was one of the last media things he did, because IIRC he died before the DVDs came out in 2000. Wikipedia says that in 2009 new DVDs came out with more science updates, but it doesn't say

@TheMogul:disqus The latter. I'm especially enough like Mark (at least in my own self loathing mind) that ugh.

You, like @avclub-55e3810d28d3d3b098f2405b29602eea:disqus and me, have trouble watching cringe comedy?

I'm a lifelong Anglophile. And I love "That Mitchell and Webb Look". I follow both of them on Twitter. I read David Mitchell's Observer column and watch his podcast. I can't watch "Peep Show". I've tried. I think I made it through the first series or two. I want to like it. But it is way too cringey. I have trouble

It does have the distinction (I believe) of being the only cover of "Across the Universe" with John Lennon contributing. That said, I don't think it's even in the top 5 cover versions of that song. I do enjoy "Young Americans" in general though, and find it to be underrated. The run of "Station to Station", "Low", and

I think he's just doing "Worst Album by a Good Band", not restricting to '86. I mean, he's 100% wrong on "The Final Cut" (the correct answer is that it's highly underrated but should've been a Roger Waters solo album and worst album is a tie between "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "The Division Bell"), but entitled

"Low" is my all time favorite album, but I think some of the individual songs on "Heroes" are better. Let's call it close to a tie. "Station to Station" gets plenty of plays too.

If you watch the infotext subtitles on "Doctor Who and The Silurians", that was a graphics department screw up. All the scripts at the time said "Doctor Who and EPISODE TITLE" and the graphics people were supposed to know not to put the "Doctor Who and" part on the credits, but they cocked it up for that one story.

@avclub-14e4cee178d88fb9aa346dbcc11f2873:disqus There are also shelf space arguments for that, assuming they're packaged well. The boxes for new-Who DVD or BluRay sets are the width of 2-3 DVD cases for a whole season, and they could even be smaller. I also have the "The Beginning" box with the first three of eight

There seems to be a significant number of conservative Christian and Mormon cable cutters who own Rokus. If you look at the top rated channels thing in the channel store (which the web version doesn't seem to have), outside Netflix, etc. it's mostly stuff like Mormon Channel, Blaze TV, and Fox News
