I have an exceptionally long lunch on Thursdays due to the Star Trek reviews. Or rather, I did before Thursdays became my stay-at-home-dad day. Now I read while the baby naps.

If we could get Zack to do "Enterprise", they could come back for the finale. A bit of a long walk for it though, if you just want Frakes and Sirtis back.

And, my god, the bass part (particularly the intro) to "Pigs (Three Different Ones)". I remember reading somewhere that Gilmour played that. Certainly not Waters style.

Tanuki are real animals. The look similar to and have the same ecological role as racoons, but are actually dogs. And they have disproportionately large nutsacks. Seriously.

@avclub-792b765aa995daf26cf6f17f519c949d:disqus If I remember/understand correctly @drdarke:disqus isn't entirely wrong. We were funneling money and arms to the Mujihadeen to fight the Soviets from Carter onward, and after they drove the Russians out they (or at least a wing of them) became the Taliban, I think.

Napier has the distinct disadvantage of having died in October of last year.

@avclub-d324a0cc02881779dcda44a675fdcaaa:disqus No, he didn't. That was Ringo. Paul, George, and John did the round of guitar solos, each taking a couple bars, cycling through a few times.

It was a big space in the middle of nowhere where they could live while they wrote and recorded and they could get

That sounds about right. I had a friend in HS (mid 90s) who was a hardline straight edger and by the time I was in college he was smoking pot nonstop, dropping acid regularly, and pounding down beers.

Quite true. I guess my brain was processing through the album for an example and stopped at the first flute-prominent song.

Or a King Crimson fan (like me). When I think flute, I think Ian McDonald on I Talk To The Wind.

According to Ringo in Anthology, his scene walking along the canal looking sad and messing with a camera were improvised. He was hung over and felt like shit, so he asked if they'd just film him doing whatever and figure out how to make it work later.

What the hell are you talking about? Apple uses mini-DisplayPort, which is the VESA standard that replaced those blue trapezoid VGA ports that computers have had forever. And the adapters cost $30 from Apple and like $7 from 3rd parties. I don't know where you buy your monitors, but I've not found a decent monitor

OK. I'll be that guy: Tim Russert was no great shakes himself. He got so much love from everyone in press and politics that I'm sure he was a legitimately nice guy and good person. But his reporting was just the distillation of whatever the D.C. beltway cocktail party common wisdom of the moment was. I don't think I

@avclub-92a4841c9f86965effbc29fa6eae9f77:disqus I think the theory would be that since a Republican has a low likelihood of being elected in D.C., the best option for a Republican voter would be to register as a Democrat to be able to vote for the most conservative Democrat in primaries. (Or, alternately to vote for
