I think the artfulness of that exchange was that Peggy asks about Joan's baby, Joan refers to her son Kevin as "the man in her life," and then asks "and how's yours?" She means "the man in your life," and that's how Peggy answers it, but everyone watching in the audience is reminded inexorably of Peggy's pregnancy.…
