x1000, yes, the best celebrity cause song of the '80s, probably since. I was a touch too young to fully appreciate it at the time, but really got it a few years later. Structurally the song is well suited to artists pitching in in all sorts of ways. Good, solid chorus but verses that go all over the place.

Hey, she kinda sorta does nudity for the first time in this episode, so there's that, I guess.

Terriers!

So I shouldn't bother with The Strain? Pity. Monday night is catch up with whatever from the weekend on the dry side of the Cascades (missing Shoreline).

For the last year I've lived in a place that is semi-arid, super-low humidity, but plenty of water. It's bizarre.

Damn, I love the pseudo product placement in "Repo Man." 80s-style generic black and white cans labelled 'Beer' and 'Food.' "Heat it up son, you'll enjoy it more." Mostly a throwaway gag that keeps popping up all through the movie.

I cut the cable just before this started airing on Sundance, so I'm only just catching up on Netflix. By far the biggest drawback so far is not being able to participate in the discussions in real-time. Even on the next-day delay shows it's often too late.

And our runner-up is probably Bob Dylan. Not too shabby.

Your hair keeps growing after you die. So do your fingernails.

He's got a fairly significant role in "The Worlds End" as well.

When you finish up with those, you'll want to get started on the ones in Minnesota…

My wife turned and looked at me and said, "Don't even think about it."

I always love how hard Hellboy works to prevent collateral damage. Box of kittens?!?

Gene Hackman, he's good in anything.

Stonewall is just around the corner…

@avclub-df723a364b70e18bb8fa82dcbcc2db91:disqus Yeah, Orphan Black somehow managed to pull that one off the scrap heap. A less awful song would not have worked nearly so well.

"Proactive" is one of my pet peeves, just a completely useless word. For when "active" just isn't active enough. I'm waiting for it to get worn out so we can pile on more intensifiers. "Superproactive" anyone?

Raging misogynist is one of Deaner's personae, but he usually pushes it so far over the top that it's clear (to me) he's mocking, not endorsing:

Spatial incoherence has been bugging me more and more as it seems to get worse and worse in movies (or I get older and crotchetier). It's just pure laziness to not lay things out so they make a modicum of spatial sense.

He'll be so delighted to have the wife around a lot more again.
