Dickon is an old-fashioned British name - it's the name of the boy in The Secret Garden. It's no more ridiculous than Dick as a nickname for Richard, also perfectly normal until recently.

This is my single biggest hope for the conclusion of the books - Arya and Gendry together (cause they're awesome) and beautiful narrative symmetry with the beginning. Bonus points if they rule Winterfell.
