Yes, to all of this. But can we emphasize that Daphne's community service was basically to act as a secretary/assistant in a doctor's office, while Bay is doing manual labor along other criminal offenders.

I see what you mean but I guess it depends on how it falls into context. For me, its not a gimmick because I never saw the original (no one throw rotten tomatoes at me please) and I like female lead films. I'm not necessarily looking forward to it but if it does get made I would be curious.
