Well…it's an adaptation. You probably know about the way it's presented- that's no big secret. But Mamet wrote the screenplay, and it's not necessarily word-for-word translation of Chekhov.

I caught it once, right after it came out, and it made an impression on me. Yeah, it was mostly the device they used to tell the story…I've got to see it again to be able to comment more competently, but that memory that did give me was cool.

The Cosby Show
I always had a feeling that he did his scenes in one take, and that the only direction he ever got was, "Do it like your character in The Princess Bride."

Dang!
I wish there was some follow up on Vanya on 42nd Street. Interesting film.

Uhm, that last reply of mine doesn't belong here.

Oh, brother.

Was the mention of Gatorade…
…product placement?

Tracy, jr.
Is the actor a kid or a midg…errr, dwar….errr little person? That was a helluva rant there.

*grumble*goddam kids weren't even alive to realize how fuckin' much that song sucked ass….*grumble*…bet they don't even know the follow up hit …*grumble*…seriously, made me throw my radio out the window…*grumble*…not even campy fun…just bad memories of long car trips…

If, as I read it, she was taking beginners lessons on a bunny hill, I can see why she wouldn't be wearing a helmet. Slopes such as those aren't steep, they're very wide and usually the trees are far from the paths.

Someone's gotta write something for Farina and Dennis Franz
I've got the title: Over By Dere.

Maybe it's an Andy thing, but I'm with ya, Andy Capp- Crime Story fuckin' killed! It just oozed mid-'60's cool! Every time I re-read "American Tabloid" and "The Cold Six Thousand" I picture the actors from Crime Story portraying the books' characters.

C'mon, ricin beans. I watched Barney Miller as a kid, and Night Court (which debuted when I was 18), was Miller where the main cast was as cartoonish as the character actors who would guest-star. NC just lacked a Hal Linden to carry the strictly straight role. Neither were witty shows, but both supplied some real

Ronnie Howard was in the LAS episode, and the family was the Cunninghams, iirc….But what's always intrigued me is that the Mr. Cunningham character was played by Harold Gould. Always wonder what direction Happy Days would have gone if Gould had signed on…

Wow, mbs! I never realized that Kenneth Parcell was actually based on a real someone.

So she became Mrs. Johnny Angel?

Bucky, Newhart hasn't been in a lot of movies, and I can't speak for the Librarian flicks, but he was horrible on the big screen for most of his career. Miscast in Hell Is For Heroes, easily the worst part of Catch 22, and I don't ever want to see First Family again…But the man's three series that were named for him

I'll agree that the last few seasons of Roseanne grew progressively worse, but I was really impressed with the finale that portrayed so much of the entire run as the fantasy of a struggling writer who was, in her "real" life, facing real issues without the aid of lottery winnings. THAT struck a chord with me.

What about After MASH? Along with Archie Buker's Place and Joanie Loves Chachi, it's a perfect example of a show that retooled to prolong its existence, for whatever reason, by changing it's name and setting(though, iirc, JLC stayed put), while retaining some beloved characters from the older version of the

I'm guessing that Sandy Duncan's Glass Eye was the name of a mid-'80's hardcore band. That's how we rolled back then….
