When I was 5-7 or 8 years old, I had this recurring dream in which, as a member of Lloyd Bridges' Sea Hunt team, I was captured by a school of creatures from the Black Lagoon and delivered to a Vampira-like woman who would keep me strapped, naked, to a chair.

@Miller, Snape and JVS

Uhm…"The Fighting Irish". Or you can start a bit earlier, with "Black Tie", with guest stars Paul Rubens and Isabella Rossellini.

@lieuty

Each of the three seasons took a while to heat up. I'd recommend you start at the very beginning, because even if it's not up to later episodes, it's still pretty damned good.

The Disney policy goes way back. It was ironic, because Walt- but Walt alone- had his moustaches.

I thought Tracy Jordan was a mashup of Lawrence/Murphy/Tracy Morgan.

Dutch/French reminds me that Girl Writer got a name. Only took 2 1/2 years.

The hell with Spaceman…Dr. Vicki!

Which was funnier: Sending the menustrating women home or the Disney-like "No Moustaches" rule?

More Dr. Vicki!
Please!

Agreed. She appeared charmed.

Horse canoe. Barely got the ROFLMAO outta my system before 30 Rock came on.

I should clarify the order in which the books should be read:

The entire ending is cribbed from White Jazz (and Bud White doesn't make an appearance in that book), while the suitcase full of heroin originates in The Big Nowhere. Buzz Meeks is a major character in TBN and dead by the time LAC opens up. Exley appears in both LAC and WJ.

Re: Adaptations of Ellroy
Oswalt nailed the film version of The Balck Dahlia- it was horrible. The Difference between Watchmen and TBD is that Moore tried, but failed, at making a narrative so all-encompassing that it couldn't be filmed without a MAJOR rewrite, where Ellroy succeeded.
