I think ABC is trying to push out "Cougar Town" in favor of HE. One cult-critical hit comedy is all they want, and it's easily marketable (surprisingly enjoyable "Friends" clone. If HE does significantly better numbers this fall than CT, then I fear for Abed…

Yeah, the majority of N&R trains are still old, but most of the Qs have been replaced. But from the picture it looks like they're riding an L train, which does run through Williamsburg. I've nevean L (or any of the new trains) with graffiti inside before.

? Why? Isn't she a sketch/improv vet? It'll either be awesome or a complete waste of a talent like Jane Lynch last season.

That would distance it from "Little Shop," which really does have that same downer ending. If this was supposed to be their Halloween episode, wasn't it less "Who Shot Mr. Burns" and more "Treehouse of Horror?"

I liked that their biggest inspiration form the original was the deeply dark and disturbing ending, where only the Greek chorus (in the musical, the 3 sassy black girls, in the episode, Cee-Lo) survives, and basically tells the audience "Yeah, that's it. All the characters are dead."

For this sketch to be on the level of "Pre-Taped Call in Show" (seriously one of the best comedy sketches ever in my opinion) it would have had one pause initially to establish the delay and then maintained the back-and-forth of a regular conversation BUT had Wiig replying to the wrong thing, giving strange answers,

Maybe Lorne hired Pharaoh because Armisen will be out by 2012, and they need a new Obama for the election year?

That was the best premise out of pretty much all of the sketches last night, but instead of actually escalating the scenario they just added a bunch of other characters and then ended it with that extended "Yo Mama" bit, which was stale. They should have stuck with just Baldwin and actually let Killam's character

I actually expected it to be a Bedelia sketch - wouldn't that have been a good switch on the premise? To have the daughter turn 180 degrees and actively sabatoge her parents after they got a divorce?

If you want to know who Donna is as a reviewer, read her How I Met Your Mother or Breaking Bad recaps, or, her signature NewsRadio posts from the summer TVCC (which proved her a GD national treasure). So yes, she is no John Teti - and I'd actually say her style tends toward more thoughtful and encyclopedic analysis

Didn't Gillette make his move on Cyril in the baby shower episode? After that quart of blood was drawn?

I hope that is never referenced or spoken of again, but he continues to wear the eyepatch for the remainder of the series. A la Brain Candy.

Or the 3/5th's compromise, which was my favorite line of the night.

The guys from Reno! 911 actually developed an almost identical pilot idea for FX and also never got it picked up.

Dee is the most manic-depressive, Dennis is a psychopath, Frank is senile, Mac has delusions of grandeur and narcissim, and poor Charlie is some kind of autistic.

I think it's undeniable that Pitt, at this point in his career, is finally starting to prove his worth as an actor. In fact I think the more boring movies he does now are all attempts at the Oscar (this, Benjamin Button), while his smaller supporting roles or weird vanity projects are excellent (Tree of Life, Burn

I don't know. Obviously simply disliking the show is their perogative. But Parks and Rec, despite not being to everyone's tastes, doesn't really have any overwhelming qualities that could be grating enough to deem it "unwatchable." At the worst you could just say you don't find it funny or don't like it. I'd say Two

I always watch the NBC comedies on Hulu because I feel like it's the closest thing I can do to help boost the numbers since it's just not viable for me to have a TV right now. I even go back and watch the delayed releases of FX shows, just becuase I want to contribute to the numbers somehow. I mean, you're forced to

Thematically, I agree with you. But I think Sue once again has been put in the place of the Big Bad this year. Last year, they tried to deflect that by introducing all these other villains and then blaming it all on Sue at the last minute. This year she seems irredemably evil again.

Hey, VanDerWerff! Glad to see you back for another vaguely overwritten but still enjoyable year of Gleecaps.
