All Good Things
Though the Johnny-Lisa wedding arc and the finale are arguably bigger events in context of the show, I loved these two episodes more than the former and made me miss the show prematurely.

Real romantic chemistry is different than If a show introduces a character strictly so another character can be like ZOMGS TOTES IN LOVE, it usually reads as false and fails. (eg: Zoey on How I Met Your Mother.)
Can't believe I missed this. I could have gotten married yesterday. Damn!
Perhaps I'm just too logical and sympathized too much with Dave, because while the resolution to "Wedding" showed an infectiously happy Lisa, Johnny, and everyone else, I was baffled that the show truly went through with it. I can't think of another show that would take its female lead, who could have chemistry with a…
Little Love Killer Lisa Lisa Miller
I don't think I've ever laughed more at something that disappointed me like that. I mean, I run pretty hot and cold with laughter - either I'm quiet or I'm cracking up - so even though "Wedding" in particular had me on the cracking up side, I couldn't help but feel sort of…
I'm just thrilled I got the chance to experience this show with other people over a decade after it went off the air. So far I haven't been able to hook any of my friends on it, so I looked forward to hearing and exchanging opinions about just what it is that makes this show special (short answer: a hell of a lot).
Lexicon sucks a fat dick
The Office, CK Style
This week felt like Louis adopted discomfort comedy a la his pal Gervais. There were funny moments, but they were offset by a prockly, unwelcome feeling that was almost palpable. It had all the parts of a usual episode, but set up differently. Certain elements, like the two kids at the gas station…
My first exposure to Star Wars was watching "Phantom Menace" on TV.
Wes Anderson
Watched "Rushmore," "Life Aquatic," and "Royal Tenenbaums" in that order over the summer when I was 15. It was just as I went from simply loving movies to actually trying to puzzle out how they were made, so Anderson's rigid and visible formalism (not just in framing and other technical ways, but even in…
I was planning on going to USC for screenwriting and emailed one of the assistant deans about possibly getting more scholarship funds. The fucker called me at my house and proceeded to tell me not only that I shouldn't go to his school, but also that I should give up writing in general.
I love that moment - it's the first hint we have at Zuko's cock-blocking prowess.
In S2 they start to buld somewhat of a mythos, adding more traditional superhero tropes but subverting them along the way. It moves fast enough that the more ridiculous elements don't grate and stay fun.
Even watching for the first time, there's not a tremendous amount to say that's not covered in the review. Not only are they remarkably thorough, but there was just more to dissect in earlier seasons - the blocking, pacing, and character work.
I Bet Foxy Jackson is Married to Shaft
First of all, I'm thrilled to see reason for a return to dissecting NewsRadio's direction, which was lacking in previous weeks but has returned to form in these episodes. In addition to the vertical/horizantal contrasts, I noticed that these two episodes play with closed/open…
I agree wholeheartedly about both Better off Ted and Slings and Arrows getting coverage. Two (Netflix Instant available!) underrated shows.
I think Ulysses S. Grant's liver would disagree, Prez.
Clearly Louie, Archer, and Community are hanging out with Firefly, Walt, and Wallace in a happy land where Modern Family is considered just okay. La la la!
The Omen remake came out on 06/06/06, which is literally the only halfway thought through thing about it.
First of all - excellent thread of excellency. Makes me wish I had developed my post a little bit more. Which I will now do! (the SPOILERS continue)
