Sophie: Choice

You get a good look at the fence in the pilot.

"And this must be last week, when we went to space-Florida"
This one line summarized everything I love about this show.

Red herring or overthinking?
When Peter woke up in the hospital, Olivia said "Welcome back" and Walter seemed overly happy to see him again. Both were acting a little off.

Maybe I'm thinking of the post-apocalyptic pseudo-western. Mad Max, Boy and his Dog, the Postman, Book of Eli, etc.

American dream
I've always thought of the modern post-apocalyptic genre as being a product of the American dream - your position after the end of the world is determined not by your class or upbringing, but by your innate talents and abilities. A former photocopier salesman can become a warlord. Post apocalyptic

Bulletin board with string?
The bulletin board covered in pieces of string is standard TV shorthand for obsession, and I've always assumed it was a cheap trope. The photo above is the first time I've seen this in a more reputable biopic.

Our generation's greatest actor
Was the mysterious Russian contact in the photo Callum Keith Rennie?

Nana Visitor: America's sweetheart.

I said it in the original review, and I stand by it
Nana Visitor: America's sweetheart.

X-division?
At the congressional hearings, there was a reference to Fringe and X-division (or something along those lines) having done this job for decades. A silly throwaway reference to the X-files, or something more?

My expedition leader was eaten by a carp.

Steel Dawn, Red Dawn
Damn. I loved these movies.

It was a pigeon who did the double take in Moonraker, I believe. Right after the gondola chase, when one boat turns into a hovercraft.

"How can I put this more simply…"
I love the scene in every disaster movie where the scientist tries to explain the problem to the government / military in the dumbest way possible.

"Miami is nice, so I'll say it thrice!"

All Athiests are Alchoholics
Anyone who has left a church is a cynical, hard drinking loner who has suffered a crisis of faith after the death of family member, will inevitably return to the flock at the end of the film. It's their only possible character arc.
