Rafe's living room tub scene had me laughing for the rest of the night. He went from "this is creepy and weird" to "I'm going to get me one of these" so quickly!

Just when you expect the show to zig, it zags!
"Eat Me" is a fantastic episode because it shows off the different genre palettes that the Farscape writers are able to work with — I almost view the "setting up plot complications further down the line" purpose of the episode as secondary to them demonstrating "Can Farscape do straight-up horror? Frell yes we can!"
How can a group of people who just listened to "4th of July" claim that Soundgarden lyrics are a sideshow? As a Soundgarden superfan, I try to resist claiming that Superunknown is my favorite album, but I am forced to admit that it does contain two of my three favorite songs, "Mailman" and the aforementioned "4th of…
I've been captivated by Jaime Murray ever since encountering her on
Hustle. Her character on Spartacus wasn't quite as well-developed as I'd like (and I hated Warehouse 13 so much that I had to bail on it before her role became more than an interesting curiosity) so it's great to see her in something she can really…
This is the one that popped into my mind, although YMMV since it's fundamentally comedic: http://www.avclub.com/artic…
I think if I woke up with I-can-become-water powers, I would become a spy. Soon the bad guys would be forced to hold their planning sessions in arid, uncomfortable rooms crammed full of dehumidifiers…
I suppose you're right. But there really doesn't seem to be a scenario where "I can turn into water!" is much of a world-beater. IMO, the situation in which we first encounter them — disaster at sea — is probably the only one where they all have something to contribute and can acquit themselves well.
Can we talk about the Ultimen? They're very lame, and they have a pathetic mix of powers for the task of taking down a space station full of godlike beings. I realize they're loose homages to absent (Super)friends (Longshadow = Apache Chief, Shifter/Downpour = Wonder Twins, Juice = Black Vulcan, Wind Dragon =…
I submit that Huntress and Captain Atom have the best exchange in this episode:
Apropos of nothing, the very first time that scene aired on broadcast TV, I was milling around a friend's parents' apartment trying to keep my shit together on an orange microdot.
Congrats, from a guy who's 85 (84 now) short of 10% of that total.
It was one of the first gigantic hits of the MTV era, every bit as important as "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "Billie Jean." It was also the only Golden Earring tune to chart at #1 in the US, so I also question those who claim that "Radar Love" is the go-to Earring track and this one is an afterthought.
Overall I'm enjoying Penny Dreadful, but the two most unfortunate things about it so far in my opinion are:
I would totally watch that movie. And yet in the back of my mind, I fear I'd be disappointed…sometimes, as with Ghost Rider, the look of a character is such pure genius that it far outpaces any comic book story you can think of to tell about them. Maybe that's why Doc and Jackson have left him a mystery.
Somehow, I'm picturing that guy with the stained bear suit and the huge knife from that episode of The Venture Bros. where the Revenge Society holds auditions for new members.
Agreed, and I do use them when I remember. I guess I got cocky because I'm playing with a walkthrough (i.e. I am a big dumb cheater) and either I misjudged my options or screwed something up at some indeterminate point in the past.
My pick for what Buridan's Ass refers to (one among many) is the two groups chasing Malvo. Wrench and Numbers want him dead, Gus and Molly want him caught. Neither group is satisfied and each group suffers for it.
I always liked the Misfits better too, although they got up to some pretty rough shenanigans. There's an episode where they drop a bunch of unsuspecting parkgoers into a tiger pit for reasons that are unclear.
Where is MODOK?
