This review…
…fits so perfectly my experience with "South Pacific" as a play and then a film. I was a sixth grade kid when I watched the Rodgers and Hammerstein production, brought to life by the high school acting club. I was enamored. It was partly due to the "Bali Hai" musical number and partly due to the crush I

We were gonna go see…
…FOTC and Eugene Mirman in Portland but their tickets cost over $50. I saw Radiohead a year ago for less than that. Lame.

Something that bothers me…
Even in the archives, I still can't find the GD Maria Bamford article I've looking for. It was a semi-regular feature called "Say Something Funny." Maria Bamford did one that was hilarious, as did Zack Galif(etc.) and this other married couple who do a standup double-team kinda thing.

Just a few moments…
- The scene in "Shadowlands" where Anthony Hopkins finally breaks down after his wife dies and cries next to his stepson…and then they both sit on the steps just bawling. God.

Riff - Mine, as well. They always play the "Company Calls Prologue" at their shows but they never play the "Epilogue." It's like a story without an

American Apparel's argument kind reminds me of that scene…
…in "Donnie Darko" where Seth Rogen tells Jena Malone "Well, didn't your dad, like, stab your mom?"

I'm dressed up for free drinks and family greetings on your wedding, your wedding, your wedding date. The figures in plastic on the wedding cake that I took were so real.

"Black Star" by Black Star
Yeah. I think…yeah.

"Neon Bible"
…just sayin'

I would definitely second any Mark Kozelek. (Even though my girlfriend fell asleep at his concert).

What about…
Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"
Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago"
Pedro the Lion's "Winner's Never Quit" (which also fits the 'songs as good as short stories' designation)

Everyday albums, circa 1997
Everyday after school, I used to sit in a crawl space off my room and listen to "Ten", "The Bends" and Peter Gabriel's "So". Of the three, I really don't listen to "Ten" anymore (or the Christian rock that was interspersed throughout that time).

Or when Marty Feldman attacks Madeline Kahn's fur wrap and she has to beat him off with her handbag. Or when Gene Wilder crawls out of his fiance's room after she refuses to sleep with him (and he's making those non-sensical noises in response to her sweet nothings).

Wait, wait, wait…
"The Office" (BBC version) must have been mentioned somewhere in here…

"Arrested Development" faves —-
- The half-choke/half-sob that flies out of George Michael's mouth after Ann breaks up with him in front of the banana stand.
- The time all the Bluths do their chicken impersonations to mock Michael. "Coocoo ca chow!"
- When Gob says to Michael, "When have I ever admitted a mistake? What

Exactly. Ugh.

Chemistry and "Say Something Funny"
I love the way these guys bounce off each other so easily. I reminds me of an old feature of the AV Club (long gone now) called "Say Something Funny" where comedians were asked one question: What is funny? I've searched high and low for it, without success, but there was a

Those GD Neville Brothers
For fairly straightforward reasons, Aaron Neville's "I Bid You Goodnight" really resonated with my dad after his mother died when I was eight. To be fair, my siblings and I were used to making fun of my parents' Neville Brothers albums. (Remember when Aaron did that awful theme for those

Yes, my site's tweets can be found (updated daily) on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/pithreport … which is mostly a load of self-congratulatory satire about Kenny Chesney, work, and the GOP.

A confession
In terms of superhero comics I did, in fact, start with "Watchmen" and "The Sandman" (I own the first complete series but I haven't ponied up the dough for the rest). Currently, I'm reading Douglas' Wolk's "Reading Comics" and, while he doesn't say it outright, I get the feeling he agrees with Mr. Pierce.
