Your friend is Jon Vickers? He had originally said that when giving his reason for not singing the role.

Yeah - "his spectacle sucks" is a pretty good starting and ending point for the discussion of the Lepage ring.

I was expecting Voigt to be a train wreck and thought she actually did a somewhat credible job.  Having said that, it's just not an attractive voice anymore (it certainly used to be) and it's probably a role she has no business singing, certainly not at this point in her career if ever.  It's a shame because she

I guess I'll wait for the AV Club post all my reasons but basically it comes down to this:  Lepage was so enamored of his 45-ton plaything he couldn't be bothered to come up with a compelling interpretation or even semi-competent blocking.  In  all fairness the previous Schenk production at the Met was pretty vapid

One big TV Club review at the end of the cycle or a review of the DVD they released at the same time? I don't think I've missed anything that's been posted yet.  Still, that's great.  Can't wait to read the coverage.

If you're going to namecheck Das Rheingold you could at least have had someone cover the Met's new Ring production that PBS was showing this week.

Walt's going to kill Ted.  He's a loose end and Skyler's assurances mean nothing to him.  I don't even see it as a protracted storyline; Walt will just do it and not care what Skyler may think because he knows best and surely everyone must realize that now (Because I said so…)

Obviously Lois finally got to Hal. I'm assuming the boys are waiting down the road before they all get together to take her out.

Yeah that's a callback to the pilot when Skyler arranges his bacon in a 50 for his birthday isn't it?
