O.E.R. John Candy, for sure. I love how in the SCTV DVD's Catherine O'Hara talks about how there were miles and miles of cars backed to attend his funeral. He was like best friends with everyone in Canada.

Well, My grandmother, for one
She's emotionally attached to oatmeal, and boy does she like a hot heaping help of Leno before bedtime. I'd say it's a similar impulse. One clears her colon, the other clears her mind.

Bob singing
I know I am late to the party here, but god bless Bob and his singing. God bless the pretty lady from the city who sings Mountain Douggie's country's anthem.

By far my favorite sketch… and it's really not even a full sketch. If the world was righteous, Droopy and asshole professor guy should have their own show.

Bravo Mr. Heisler!
Great interview! Always interesting to learn about supposed "failures" (the show, not the people, of course)

Yeah, if nature doesn't take care of this, it will be further proof that the movie Idiocracy is becoming reality. I guess I'll have to find a fellow smart person and just start fucking to counteract this disastrous trend.

Why, Gavin! That's my match.com tagline. How sweet.

He said that the jokes were in bad taste… but he never said there was anything wrong with having bad taste.

InDEED, sir. Indeed.

The New Yorker article that Nathan posted gives a lot of insight into the Lorne Michaels dictatorial comedy philosophy.

Yeah, that's what I am wondering. Will they have scenes where somebody walks out on the session? Will there be Let It Be-style tiffs? I mean, most the stuff on the White Album was not played by all four guys at once - will that be a feature?

… and will there be bonus Rutles songs and characters?!?! If there is a sweet and merciful god, I suppose.

That's what I'm sayin'!! I have been telling people ever since I heard about The Beatels edition that it better damn well have harmonies! How could you possibly sing anything from their catalog without harmony?

This picture clears so many things up!
Here I was walking around Denver looking for Dennis Franz! Oh, thank god. I can spend less time on Colfax and more time collecting electronic information.

Oh 1996 Dave Foley… come to the future and entertain us once more, won't you!?

"kind", rather, of course

The most revealing moment for Jay Leno…
… was his small moment in the movie Comedian where he talks about how he keeps his earnings from stand-up separate from everything else. Seinfeld, in the commentary, talks about how that's the kins of guy Jay is - that his sole motivation is to always always have a back up plan

Totes, ya'll. At the time, I thought American Beauty was the shit, but then I was a stupid college kid who had never seen a movie made before, say, 1983. Was not aware of the pervasiveness of the "Suburbia sucks" theme in American cinema.

Listening to When I Was Cruel now, it's not my fave, but at the time it was the record that finally brought me into the sweet Costello fold. I bought pretty much his entire back catalog after hearing that album.

I mean saxophone… and damn, Kool! You be fast and shit.
