That seems like a pretty limiting assumption.  Until comedians get their own show or role on a big show I think it's safe to assume the vast majority of the public has no idea who they are or what their brand of humor is.  Also, this is the first episode and they're going into a black white supremacist skit.  If you

Bringing up character growth when discussing ANY sketch show is just absurd.

Saw Sleep in New York last year.  It was fucking transcendent.  They had images of weed plants with Carl Sagan superimposed on them.  And they played the first 30 minutes of this album.  Even my friend who had never had listened to them was transfixed.  We were short for time so we couldn't even get high!

When Ann said "It's still 21 votes" I knew she was going to flip it and say "but you're the leader" but my heart fluttered all the same.

I'm generally in the camp that is in favor of cutting a show down before it becomes a bloated caricature of what it once was, but if P&R gets cancelled, I'll be heartbroken.  I don't believe it's lost its steam at all this season, and there's still plenty for the show/characters to do.

If I care about the characters that's a plus, but really, all I want is fully-realized characters played by actors who can truly encapsulate them.  The cast of Arrested Development are absolutely awful people, but they're so distinct without becoming caricatures and played so well, that they're some of my favorite TV

Every Matt Walsh line has been absolutely perfect so far.  Likewise, every Tony Hale reaction has been gold.

Seriously, I saw that and thought "what, Perch Patchwork was poppy as hell"

I'm disappointed the knuckle ball wasn't mentioned in the review, because to me that was the most poignant part of the episode.  It shows that Kenny finally realizes he can't bring the heat anymore and he needs to change.  You can also read into it showing that he's willing to slow down and is finally taking shit

It really is a brilliant move by the writers.  Knucklers have helped extend or completely change pitchers' careers.  It also sets up a bunch of R.A. Dickey jokes.

So no coverage for Check It Out! With Dr. Steve Brule?

Wikipedia says this season is 8 episodes, so 3 more total.

Also check out D. Vassalotti.  It's one of the guys from Merchandise who was also in seminal noise/hardcore group Cult Ritual.  And it's another example of excellent songwriting obscured and accented with noise and static.

He's writing disjointed guitar riffs in heaven now

It wasn't explained.  Just a byline to open the episode/season.

Caught in my own lie!

I found the complete Robocop trilogy on VHS at Goodwill for a dollar.  I brought it to the cashier and she looked up at me and nodded and said "Go ahead and say it".

They're generally recognized as post-hardcore.  "Emo punk" is a pretty silly term since emo was always a subgenre of punk/hardcore.  It's been much maligned since those early days, but there's still bands carrying the torch.  Since bands like Orchid Pg. 99, and Saetia were around during much of ATD-I's existence I
