Yeah, the show never gets too much into it, but it's hard to tell where the Alliance ends and Blue Sun begins.

With regards to River slashing Jayne: Note that he's wearing a Blue Sun T-shirt, and when she freaked out and ripped the labels off the cans way back in "Shindig," they're Blue Sun labels. (MINOR SPOILERS) The show never follows up on it, and neither does the movie, but I wonder if the original plan was that it wasn't…

It SOUNDS harmless, but it's really a wolf in sheep's clothing.

When I want to watch people try, try again and screw up every time, I'll watch Wile E. Coyote, thank you very much.

If it had been a character with a speaking part, I might've felt more strongly about it, but yeah, it was a cheap way to inject drama, especially since Chewie died saving Han's kid Anakin, and then Anakin dies 8 books later anyway.

The Lovely Bones. Halfway through the book, it was just a monotonous train of the girl looking down on her family, who was always miserable. Rage-quitting that cost me a relationship, actually, but I REALLY didn't want to keep reading it.
