Friday- I got into a two hour long conversation at the bar with a guy who makes superhero rape fetish porn. Sounds like a weird world. He was certainly a strange guy.

I tried to find film work in Seattle one summer. It was rough, but it is there. Probably easier to find there then in Portland, where I am now, but honestly outside of LA/NY, you're gonna have issues.

Personally, I'm smitten with Marion Cotillard.

I first saw him at a screening of My Name Is Bruce. It was during as close to a blizzard as Portland gets, so turnout was low and it was really personal. It was great.

buttermoths- I'm applying for English teaching jobs all across the region, but assuming I am accepted for several positions, I wanted some recommendations. I'd never even thought of Singapore, but you made it sound like a pretty great place to check out. I'd also love to go to Japan, but due to the language barrier,

What is GreenCine? Also, Alec Baldwin prior to 30 Rock is a bad idea, no matter how much Sean Connery there is.

I'm planning on moving to Asia in the next six months. Do you two have any recommendations?

Portland comiccon, where I got to see Bruce Campbell yet again. He was great. Most of the other celebrities (Stan Lee), not so much.

If you're reading On The Road and you're an adult, it's not going to live up to the hype. It's one of those magical teenage books. Like Catcher in the Rye, which is really just a whiny guy whining for a really long time.

Part of me wants to argue that you didn't like Pi, Following, or Blood Simple because you were angry about your diet. The rest of me knows you're right though, and if I rewatched them now, I'd be amazed at what a pretentious 20 year old I was.

I haven't seen Bride of Re-Animator since I was 18. Glad to hear it holds up

Rabid is worth sitting through the rough beginning. I don't remember it really well, but I remember a great scene with an armpit needle penis in a porn theater.

Most of my friends dug Dredd, but I agreed with Phipps that it was garbage.

I just watched Looper and loved it, but I imagine it'd be much tougher if you had a kid.

ElDan- trust me. Crazy is a bullet dodged.

Barney's movie has heart, but football in the groin has a football in the groin

Wish I could, but unfortunately I can't afford to miss work, and working security is a particularly trying job with mono. Thank god for red bull

Thanks. I will do my best.

Valhalla Rising was ok, but I felt that it was one of Refn's weaker films. It never lives up to the first few minutes, and the semi-twist was predictable.

If Melancholia is the closest film has ever gotten to evoking depression, Hausu is the closest film will ever get to pure, drug addled, schizophrenic insanity.
