Top Gun was THE movie of my childhood.  I still have a copy on VHS that was taped from an airing on NBC in 89 or so (complete with severe weather warnings on the screen).  I swore I was going to be a fighter pilot, but in the Air Force, instead of the Navy because I couldn't swim at the time.
