Beyond the recipes I'd want to save for sentimental reasons (my grandma's "Joy Of Cooking" that she got as a wedding present in the early 40s, the book of handwritten recipes from my mom, the Ransburg recipe box full of meticulously typed index cards that I found in an antique store…), I'd probably save "Desserts From

This sounds amazing. Any advice on basic ratio of spice to tea? Teaspoon per cup? Tablespoon per cup? I make a lot of syrups for homemade soda, and I don't know why using juniper berries never occurred to me, even though they're right there in my spice cabinet.

I've worked on pageants, and the amount of duct tape in the backstage bathrooms after the show was a combination of impressive, scary, and sad.

I read the third book a little while ago, and it hurts me a little that I can't discuss it with anyone yet. THE SPOILER THAT FOLLOWS IS ONLY A SPOILER IN THAT IT'S MY VERY GENERAL OPINION ON THE BOOK WITH NO PLOT INFORMATION OR DETAILS INCLUDED AND I'M ONLY WARNING YOU BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THE INTERNET TO YELL AT ME…

I just watched a widescreen version of this a few days ago. A friend of mine bought it recently (possibly from Amazon? I'm not sure where it came from), so widescreen versions are out there.

That would be tempting with some people, but this particular actor was a nice guy. We didn't find a replacement for the raw onion that went on the raw burger though, so he did have to deal with that.

It's generally the requests that ask me to bend the laws of physics that impress me. "You're giving me how little money to make old fashioned light bulbs that magically change color?" "You expect 3 dozen opened umbrellas to fit where?" Some co-workers and I were recently wondering how the costume shop reacted when

I don't work in TV, but I do work on the technical side of the performing arts, and there's generally not a "Huh" at the end of our thoughts. There are a lot of conversations about things like how best to construct realistic dead animals (How rigid should it be? What kind of fake fur looks best? How will the lights

The Hail Mary nature of the recent "What's On Tonight" inspired me to watch this online. I'll keep reading if the AV Club keeps writing.

You're absolutely right, @avclub-15d496c747570c7e50bdcd422bee5576:disqus, it can be hit and miss. Two of the best productions I've ever worked on (not just Shakespeare productions but productions in general) were college productions of The Tempest and Midsummer. But two of the worst were also college shows (Hamlet,

Try seeing live performances, if possible. Read a plot summary and then
go see a play. (Knowing the basic plot will help if you're unfamiliar
with the language.) There's usually a university or regional theatre putting on Shakespeare at least once a year.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops, but are we on the Enterprise? Stop with the lens flare.

Well this explains the recent writer exodus.

Just checked the official website because I'm pretty close to it too. It's September 6-7.

Todd, I own the complete series on DVD and would happily play along at home if you TV Clubbed it, even if the music on the DVDs isn't all we'd like it to be.
