I should point out that Elizbeth Sladen might never have looked better as Sarah Jane than she does in Mandragora.

Doctor Who Fans
The two Peladon stories from the classic series are out today. The Curse of Peladon is nice and moody, and they obviously took some nice psychedelics when designing some of the characters. Alpha Centauri in particular will scar you to no end. One of the better Pertwee stories, even with some serious

(Minor Spoilers )

Gaiman's ep was moved to next season. Fry wrote one for Series 3, but it wound up too expensive to use then, so they canceled it.

Hero At Large
Did it better.

No kidding. Mary Tamm was/is about as elegant as they get.

Wow. I was just trying to make a really bad/stupid transporter/Primer joke, and I got a damned fine education. Thanks, all.

Good point, "Juror", but I still don't they ever got his character right, even in the later seasons.

Wheaton is a hell of a nice guy — always willing to chat, self-deprecating, and much more talented than most of the criticisms of his character earn. Wesley was never well written, and the "brainy" young boy stereotype always seems to carry a lot of audience negativity. Wheaton certainly doesn't deserve the hate.

So the transporters are sort of like the boxes in Primer?

A Time Bandits riff. I love it!

Agreed. I love it when the Doctor travels with adults. They talk back, have set opinions that are harder to change, and it adds some nice tension. Donna was a fantastic companion, and the tragedy behind her exit was a killer. Catherine Tate had earned my undying love by the middle of her second episode.

You have to give it to old school Who, though. Victoria, even though she was almost always screaming, was easily one of the hottest. And Sarah Jane Smith! Those eyes! That amazing — ahem — booty! Heck, Polly was gorgeous, too. Amy Pond is also a knock out.

(Again with slight spoilers) Agreed, "Licky". I thought it was going to be scary as hell, and parts of it are, but they cram too much stuff into it and it still feels a bit slight. I think it works, but the set design, featuring these nice, creepy machines that look like "automatic fortune tellers" with revolving

Bloody great stuff (with two slight spoilers)
In reference to a previous comment, the Dr. Who pinball machine was one of the best. This Doctor is already one of the best. There's a scene where he's eating across the table from the little girl who found him, and he talks to her as a father figure — like Troughton

Yup. Already did.

Wanted was nothing but a middle finger to all those people who really, really want to live in the world of comics, but aren't fucking lucky enough.

Demon With a Glass Hand
He's bloody brilliant in it. Too bad.

Well, their version of it.

This thread, this amazing comment thread, full of lyrics, passion and heartfelt moments, should be saved somehow. It's actually helped today. I met him two times: once in Memphis at a Pizza Hut, where he was waiting tables in 1988. My friend knew who was instantly, but we didn't say anything. Tipped as much as we
