First of all, that bomb was pretty cool lookin'. Also, I think the point was to trap Arrow, not just leave him at a dead end. The bomb has a better chance of doing that.

Not everybody has to be archers in this show. Deadshot wasn't. Huntress wasn't, though they kinda gave her a bow. Deathstroke wasn't. Domino (?) wasn't.

The head of the arrow wouldn't got past the bow; you don't draw it that far back. The head stays just a tad extended forward, and the shaft slides past the bow.

Despite your very reasonable and well-founded objections, Robin Hood is still about a guy who took wealth from people who had a lot of it and gave it to the disfranchised. Wealth and power are close enough to the same concept that we scarcely need separate words for them, most of the time.

Hostage taking as a means to gain leverage over a super hero isn't a plot point unique to Arrow, or The Dark Night. Pretty sure all super heroes have had to deal w/ that.
