But why did we create fictional individualistic heroes and the Soviets not? I say it had to do with the mentality of collectivism. The people you listed were, well, real. Why no fictional characters that were larger than life?

I think the lack of Red Dawn or Rambo like movies from the Soviet Union was in part due to the fact that our culture celebrates individuals and their culture celebrated the collective. It would apply to heroes and villains alike.
