I was under the impression that the memory wipe only worked partially. As the Doctor explained to diner-Clara, he remembered that Clara existed and what adventures they had together. But he can't remember what she looks like or sounded like or how he got back to Earth.

Basically that, Doctor Who has to run theoretically forever. So it isn't reasonable for us to expect every rule to stick.

I'd also take into account that 9 died for Rose (who he was all but in love with, and who had just bent the universe saving him) and 11 was dying of old age after a centuries long standoff so a regeneration was preferable to all alternatives. Especially when you remember 11 believed himself to be on his final life

If only the President of the United States was this irrelevant figure who would never come up in conversation …

Regardless, this episode felt like this episode was built to do a "It could go either way" with both Bill and Nardole.

I wonder if Clara ever realized the 12th Doctor was at Gallifrey and asked him when they were going to tie up that lose end?

I don't think it matters. But it would be cool if it happened in the XMAS special.

Yeah

I felt like Susan was inevitable after we saw her picture in 12's office.

Handles had a much longer run

I don't need Bill to come back. (Bill/Nardole were both interestingly written off inclusively enough that they could return next year if the new showrunner doesn't want to make up new companions)

The Master will obviously return, but not in the form of Michelle Gomez.

Doctor Who basically operates on comic book logic in terms of how science and technology work.

It seems like it took a full year for Moffat hate to begin in earnest though

Dear lord, wait until the completely balanced reaction to the next showrunner begins.

This show is so inherently fantastical it is hard for me to connect with people who take it this seriously.

We don't even know what her present day status is. Legacy made it look like she was on the cusp of being destroyed the government propoganda machine.

Yeah, I barely know who those other guys are at all about wouldn't have even watched the pilot if it wasn't for Kim/Park.

My Grace Park-lust got me to watch the pilot. That feels like an ETERNITY ago

Seriously, it would have been far more interesting if she were a good guy or at least somewhat morally ambiguous. Instead she's just a younger female replacement for the old villains since Bourne kills one more dude with links to his past in each movie.
