Wasn't Aykroyd's giant early draft was mostly thrown out? Like, that's when they were in space as part of a huge Ghostbusting army and Mr. Stay-Puft appeared halfway through the movie and stuff? I know Ramis did a lot to streamline the movie, and I've always kind of attributed the movie's tight structure to him more

I'm pretty sure that Rick Moranis improvised a lot of Louis' dialogue, and Aykroyd came up with a lot of Ray's (longer) rants on the fly, too.

Interestingly enough, the original Ghostbusters was mostly ad-libbed too. I think the problem with Feig and (especially) Apatow's movies isn't just the improvising, it's the lack of a strong and decisive editor.

I think Elwood stealing the aerosol cans is kind of funny, but not only does it ruin the Cheez Whiz line, but also later when he randomly has the glue in his briefcase.  And — you see Elwood without his glasses, which never happens in the theatrical cut.  In terms of pure comedy, the theatrical cut is better.

I think the comics read like fan fiction too — especially the Buffy ones (which is funny, because those are the ones that Whedon was more involved in).  The whole thing felt like this giant continuity fanwank, tying up loose ends that didn't really need tying up.  The Angel "After the Fall" series was a little better,

Were the racetrack scenes in this episode actually filmed at the Santa Anita Racetrack, or was it just because I watched "Luck" right before?  I know they shoot "Justified" in California…

This is the episode where Artie calls himself a "crapper gargoyle," right?  My favorite — and most used — line from the whole series.
