Underground was fantastic. It takes a lot of self-control to refrain from editorializing and just let the victims speak for themselves. Very different kind of read. Yeah, book 2 was fantastic and I would have been more than happy to  have the story wrap up there. Adding another character and resolving the Aomame/Tengo

Holy shit. How does somebody get to that point. At that age. The mind fucking boggles. Hopefully he's found some peace.

Loved Jackie Brown. One of the few cases where reading the book actually enhanced the movie experience (future inventory topic?) One, I could keep track of the money switcheroo. Two, I caught this in high school at a  theater with my best friend. I knew the Lewis breakdown was coming as soon as they got in the parking

Caught Magic Mike (finally) in local theaters. Had about a four day run before it was pulled, so feeling lucky. Wife loved it and caught it the next day with her girlfriend's fora  second viewing. I thought it was fantastic. Surprisingly middle of the road take for Soderbergh. Young kid comes up in the game, absorbed

As soon as he started that Redbone riff, I just collapsed in a chair. "This is really happening. IN MY EAR." Absolutely awesome.

I'm prettysure it's cause I was so damned nervous and earnest. Listening back, I think it was ended right when it needed to be. Just glad I can be part of the Staten Island Garbage Rats animated intro rolling in my head right now.

It's that "righteous" tone that can make critics and commenters so exhausting. I'm definitely guilty of this as well, though my rants tend to fall in defense of the work instead of trying to break it down. Dark Knight Rises was bloated as hell, with so many clashy tones and set-pieces and character types. But there
