Nice work, Todd. A really comprehensive and thoughtful essay. I was a Marvel fanboy growing up and only dipped into Superman every now and then over the years. Picked up Moore's story when I was in high school, peripherally aware of most of then main characters and villains. Beautiful piece of work.

I'll agree with Maggie on this one. Chris Gore is PAINFUL. Maybe Who Charted should just collapse into Two Charted, considering the shitty slew of guests they've been getting lately. Picked up Howard's Summah Album!! Ridiculously fun. Everybody should get it on iTunes now. Summer Sirens is my personal pick.

Night Watch was fantastic, but I really found Thud to be even more intensely personal, as all Vimes stories are. Snuff is a little heavy handed, but still a solid read.

I wasn't expecting genius, but I also wasn't expecting such a plodding pace, which seems more in line with Gaiman's other novels, at least American Gods. I enjoyed it, but it just feels like too many cooks. Lots of ideas and characters that  don't get opportunities to breathe. Regardless, I'll definitely be picking

I felt this a bit with Good Omens as well. Pratchett's tone works well with the fairly quick pace of his Discworld books. I'm just speaking as a huge Pratchett fan, but it feels like Pratchett is providing color in someone else's structure. I'm guessing I'll feel a little uncomfortable with this as well, but I'll

Oh Christ, that lead clown article just tore me up (in the sweet, heart-wrenching kinda way). It kinda encapsulates a lot of what Borgnine represented: a remarkably ugly individual that had a sweetness and charisma that made him incredibly appealing as an actor. The kind of uncle I always wanted to have. RIP, Mr.

And Sasquatch!! What an odd freakin's design he had. Was that John Buscema. Alpha Flight was just a great source for bland stories and really odd design choices.

But, most of these would NOT make for great movies. Isn't this inventory just a fanboy wishlist? Fun ideas, but a lot of the write-ups just come across as petulant. And why the snide (repeated) assumptions about studios not ready for gay superheroes?
