I know. It's a tangled web of WTF. I guess the writers weren't thinking quite this far ahead in S1, when the whole Bennett witch heritage was established, and I can't blame them for that.

Regarding Bonnie's truthfulness:

Okay, here's what I don't get, and forgive me for nitpicking, but the writers usually put more thought into this shit:

She has a dad somewhere, not sure if he's in Mystic Falls or not but I'd imagine so. We've just never seen or met him, or heard his name  mentioned. Back in S1, though, Bonnie & her grams mentioned him once or twice, and it was made clear that he doesn't believe in/approve of the "witchy-woo" stuff.

Yep, it was Elena's adoptive mother, Miranda. I remember wondering "Which mother?" until she mentioned Miranda.

Yeah, they came to Netflix a few days after my S2 DVDs came in the mail, haha. Still worth having the DVDs, though.
