Just got back from the movie, and absolutely see it in 3D and IMAX if possible. This film is all about the visuals and they are incredible. And for those worried that 90 minutes of Sandra Bullock in space seems boring, don't worry. It is tense and fast moving. This is definitely not a movie to see on DVD.

I had no idea they had released the trailer for Season 2 of Korra. Now I'm super excited for September!

I agree with you @avclub-dd34286490edaaa9c5dae6f7c823ece3:disqus that the abridged version of Les Mis might actually be a better read, but maybe not quite as epic. Perhaps the character moments wouldn't have seemed as earned if I hadn't waded though the Waterloo stuff. I will say that it was one of the first books

I'm with you  @avclub-94e005c18b383d12a8924d5d1367610d:disqus  regarding Mieville. I respect and admire his work but don't really love it. For me I think it has to do with his characters, I don't really care about anyone in his books.

I especially enjoyed the first part of the story, she can write a hell of a mystery. The other two sections didn't work quite as well since most of the mystery was gone and the two main characters are really pretty terrible people. Although, I do love the fact that she turned the "missing women" cliche on its head.

I know it is available for streaming on Netflix Instant. If you don't have Netflix you can always sign-up for the free trial for a month to watch it for free, but however you want to watch it I look forward to your report!

I'm glad to hear that about The Baroque Cycle. I've been thinking about reading them, but have held off because of how uninteresting I found the characters in Anathem. Sounds like that isn't something I have to worry about.

I have never read "A Room with a View", but really love the film. I'd love a report back if the film is anything like the book, and if I love the film will I like the book? Is the book worth reading after seeing the film?

I'm really curious how they are going to adapt the next one for film. It doesn't really fit the big budget blockbuster mode as well and the main character is catatonic for a large chunk of the plot.

I really enjoyed Middlesex when I read it a few years ago. Highly recommend it once you feel up to it!

How far are you into Anathem? The jargon and mathic thought stuff lessens a bit more as the story goes on, and it does serve a purpose so at the end it doesn't seem quite so extraneous. I actually really enjoyed the world-building but don't think Stephenson is the greatest writer in the world. I enjoyed the ideas and

I read Gone Girl which I enjoyed. It is a fast read and the first real page turner I've read in a while. I appreciate that the author didn't shy away from the very dark place that these characters psyches live, but felt a bit dissatisfied at the end.

I don't think the other books are terrible, they just aren't at the level of Lonesome Dove. If you like the world and the characters, the other books give you some more adventures that are enjoyable to read. Just don't expect a Pulitzer Prize level book.

But it also has beautiful prose and a fascinating character in offred. Actually the one aspect of that book that I dislike is the epilogue. I think the story would have been stronger without it.

If you liked Oryx and Crake definitely read The Year of the Flood which takes place in the same world but from different characters perspective. In some ways I actually liked it more than Oryx and Crake.

Yeah, he was my first celebrity crush. Soon followed by Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice. I guess I like hairy men.

Unfortunately no, since I later became a big fan of Joss Whedon shows. However I no longer hurl things at my TV. Flat screens just can't take that kind of abuse.

He's got my vote! And it is only obvious to people who watched Dollhouse, so not obvious at all to the majority of the population.

That was another one of my favorite episodes. It blew my young, impressionable mind. I've never watched it again because I'm afraid I'll realize it is all kinds of terrible.

It surprised me that the Al's wife episode wasn't one of the 10. I remember it being one of my favorites.
