I, like Noel, knew that something was not right, but didn't have any idea how far back it went. It was after they defeated the Beast. It happened too quickly and didn't fit with how formidable the Beast was in earlier episodes. It all felt too easy and convenient. I still loved, loved, loved the ending, even if I knew

Huh, that's funny because I look at James Earl Jones casting as color-blind casting. That character was probably written as a white guy (everyone around him is white), but JEJ was just too awesome (and was coming off Star Wars villainy fame) so they cast him. I think it is the exact opposite of racist and more about

@spicoli323, really nice analysis of Iroh's journey. I hadn't really thought of how he changes over the course of the show. I would add that he may have known about how important Zuko is to restoring balance to the world at the beginning of the series and that may be why he decided to join Zuko in his quest. I assume

that should read "closest"

@Tearinitup. I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for regarding the "science" of trilogies, but it was the closed thing I could find:

Actually my high school librarian was also terrifying. A giant lesbian with unresolved anger issues who constantly yelled at us to push in our chairs. It has become part of my professional mission to make scary librarians a thing of the past. Unfortunately too many of them are still hanging around. I should know, I

@Tristiac, for a second there I thought you were saying that the owl librarian was almost as scary as real librarians and that link was to a scary librarian video. I am happy to see that you were talking about owls instead.

I recently re-watched the series and thought I remembered the first finale not being as good as the other two. Then the giant spirit fish showed up and it was almost awe inspiring. I had actually forgotten that it happened. The series finale is still my favorite, but the first season finale is not a step down in

I heartily approve of face stealing Legos, and now wish Lego would come out with an actual line of Avatar inspired Lego sets. You could have a set for every bending nation/kingdom/tribe, plus an Aang Gang set and a Spirit World set, which would, of course, include the Spirit Library.

@Lt. Obvious: If I tried to take my cat out in a Kayak, I'd get the shit clawed out of me. You have a very well behaved cat.

I actually find Yue to be pretty generic. She's the typical princess in distress, and pales in comparison to a character like Suki.

I agree that Pakku does seem to have a pretty abrupt change of heart, but it might just seem that way because he is such a huge dick to Katara. His softening just seemed a little out of character.

I guess I'm mean, but I don't feel that bad for Jeannie. She married him of her own free will which means she should have known what she was getting into. Feel like he's ignoring you? Than go out and find something else to do for god's sake. It isn't like Larry suddenly began a talk show host after they got married.

Iroh's actions with June in this episode are my favorite parts. I especially love how disgusted Zuko is with him. I guess I find old men sexually harassing younger ladies to be funny or Iroh is so charming that he gets away with it.

Is this the first time we see Appa really kick ass? He's shown as great at flying and often gets the Gaang out of trouble, but I don't think we've ever seen him fight before. I love the fact that they make Appa not just a cuddly flying stuffed animal and show he can be really dangerous when provoked. SPOILERS: this

Same here Reckoner. Now I feel like kind of an idiot, since the homage is pretty obvious when pointed out.

MINOR SPOILERS:It was my favorite action sequence of season one, but I recently rewatched the series and I have to rank the season one finale above it. Also I really love the Appa/ Nyla fight, mostly because I enjoy anytime Appa gets to act like a badass.

Yeah, I also rank it high on the non-essential episodes list because it is pretty funny, and provides some nice character growth for Sokka, Katara, and Aang. I also appreciate that they add the moment when Aang realizes that the fortune teller saw no love in his future which emphasizes the fact that as the hero he by

Hey FigPlucker, I'm watching Lake Michigan right now. What are the odds? I watched Sharktopus, which was about as good as you would expect. Also the World Cup.
