Hey! I'm a middle-aged Midwestern dude. I want to be Lydia's friend. Just kidding…she intimidates me a little. But I dig the music.

I felt the same way when I first heard Dean & Britta, but their
stuff grew on me the more distance I got from Luna. It is more loungey
and folky than his other projects, but it's still of the same ilk. I
don't listen to the albums all the way through as often as I do Luna or
Galaxie 500, but there are some standout…
Wow. I had no idea Julian Cope was host on Top of the Pops either. I will now kill an entire evening on YouTube.
I watch the show because he generally has at least one guest on who's worth hearing, and I like the panel discussion format. But, Jesus, I hate Maher's smug condescension. It's so sad that he's considered a "smart guy." He's only smart when he's got the answers on the cards in front of him. Get him off his talking…
I listened to this album quite a bit last week when it was streaming, and I liked it a lot. It meanders a bit in the middle, but it has some great songs. A lot of it showcases Gahan in his gospel singer mode, a la Songs of Faith and Devotion, and I think that's when he's at his best. Listen to "Angel" for a prime…

Thank you. I was scrolling down to say just that. I don't understand the multiple comparisons in this article. In no universe would one's music be confused for the other's. Is it just because they were both lesbians named Michelle/Meshell?
Knauf better hope he doesn't outlive me because if I'm struck with a terminal illness, Carnivale is definitely part of my make-a-wish.
I always thought this, too (and maybe once drunkenly and rudely vocalized it). It killed me that Lost was so successful and Carnivale got the axe when Lost was so obvious, pandering, and poorly written.
Ditto, schrimped. This movie looks fucking terrible, but the review was excessively mean and unprofessional and comes off as fairly ageist. That level of vitriol should be reserved for the comments.

The bear mauling plot point always kind of bugged me as totally random. But then I read about Wojtek the WWII Polish soldier bear and thought, "Well, I guess it happens."
There's definitely more action in season two, but it's still a slow-paced show. I'd at least give it a shot.
I'm very excited about this. I will gladly fawn in exchange for your reviewing Carnivale. Unless, of course, I disagree with your reviews. Then I'll berate you on a weekly basis.
I second the Carnivale suggestion. That was such a richly layered show and could really be enhanced with an episode-by-episode analysis.
If this were CNN, their lack of radio hits might mean something in relation to newsworthiness. But this being the AV Club, I don't think it means much at all. And clearly they had broader appeal than you realized, since people are excited about it.
