It's just before Labor Day—I'm guessing their thought is that it will be a late-summer time waster, when young people want to escape family obligations and most of the big blockbusters have left theatres. It's not a terrible idea.

Bad tippers piss me the fuck off.

Now just add in a Stanislavski/Boleslavski double-header and we'll be in heaven.

THE RUNS
When I first saw posters for the movie, the title was all in caps, and it looked for a second like the movie was called THE RUNS.

I'm not familiar with anyone using "mise en scene" in theatre. That's one area of pretension we leave to the film snobs.

Sondheim
Seriously. Not spelled Soundheim in any way. Sondheim.

Or At Least Continues
He has a well-received run in "Venus In Furs" (adapted from the Sacher-Masoch novel) last spring Off-Broadway, though his costar walked away with the reviews. And if you can make it through 8 shows a week of a two-character play, you're clearly on pretty good footing, physically.

I'd so go straight for Michelle Obama. No freaking question.

@Craig—Oh, totally self-satisfied, and subtle on a brick. But it's full of hugely entertaining performances and gleeful leftism, so it gets me in my happy place.

Highlights included making glass paperweights at a glass studio, which was great fun (we can take a glassblowing class next, if we like), taking my boyfriend's grandma out to Chinatown, and hanging out with a friend to watch "Cradle Will Rock". I actually think casting Peyton and Eli Manning makes for a very interesting dynamic.

This may be the case for those only looking at his film/tv work. I still say his musical theatre work is a pretty mixed bag.

Is this some new version of Mandy Patinkin? Not the man who twists songs into unrecognizable mutations with wildly inappropriate intensity and fluttering high notes? The man has done some brilliant stuff, no question ("The Princess Bride" and "Sunday in the Park With George", for example), but "can do no wrong" is WAY

Fans Pining For a Film Expansion of a Canceled-Too-Soon Comedy Series?
Man, I'm glad that's not happening any…

A Playwright Going Crazy During Reheasals?
No, that would NEVER happen.

It's on hiatus for three weeks as they put in changes, including the removal of the Greek Chorus device. Bam.

I saw it Saturday night too. Very entertaining film—Ronan was amazing, a hammy, villainous Cate Blanchett is always a pleasure (Though seriously, that wig and that accent? Wha?), and the whole thing made for a really fun ride. Even the excesses—the CIA building that doubled as an underground rave club, the constant

Huh, I saw Jeffrey Carlson in an (awesome) production of "Edward II" in Chicago. He didn't quite fit the tone of the show, but he's quite good. Glad he's getting work.

You were quite warm for a while, then you got downright crispy.

@FG—Hey, his choir sounds amazing. If you're implying that it's gay, well, yes, it is, but so are we, so it works out.
