Friday night had Pho for the first time in months, then saw my friend's show. Saturday walked to brunch in the gorgeous weather, then went to my boyfriend's choir concert, then went to a roller derby bout with a group (the Windy City Rollers are AWESOME), then Greektown. Sunday included lunch with one friend and

Yeah, that indicates a camp-fest at the level I was hoping. I'm so glad.

@FAS—I'm not sure whether to shout "Shame!" or start a slow-clap.

Yeah, while I can see the point he was going for there, Steppenwolf isn't known for cerebral, emotionally restrained stuff. While they're not as over the top as they were in the late 70's-early 80's, they still have a reputation for intensity. (See "August: Osage County".)

Ouch
I'm all for specifically gay spins on pop culture forms, but based on the clips I hear at right, that is some aggressively unpleasant music. I can't imagine making it through the whole album.

Silly Question
Who's Rodrick? The kid? The brother? The review was fine overall, but the fact that it doesn't mention who the title character is strikes me as odd.

Dear Michael
We know you have children. We appreciate your desire for a wide variety of work. But please, please, do good stuff. You're one of the best, don't cheapen yourself.

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Is it just me, or does this, in outline, seem reminiscent of the novel/play/movie The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie? Private girl's school, taking place in the 1930s, hugely charismatic female teacher with delusions of grandeur for herself and her students…

Jews? Magicians? Nazis?
It's official. Add in a sensitively-drawn gay character and this will be the Michael Chaboniest project ever. I can't wait.

My mother's Ashkenazic and my father's sephardic. It's a mixed marriage. I enjoy being able to have pastrami and grape leaves.

I just read K&C again, five years after the first time I read it. As far as I'm concerned it's still held up wonderfully, and I still devoured it and laughed, cried, etc.

A big support of that Moth story from Steve. Totally hilarious. Highly recommended.

So why the move? What, aside from a RoboCop statue, did Detroit have to offer?

Detroit?
I could have sworn that ZMF lived in Cincinnati or Columbus. Has he moved or was I just confused?

I Tried To Watch This Once
I was 12 or so, and my parents and I rented it, figuring that even substandard Peter Sellers would be worth watching. It was so painfully dull and completely unfunny that we turned it off half an hour in. I commend you for being able to watch the whole thing.

Saw The Play
I reviewed this when it premiered at Steppenwolf. Despite excellent performances, it was desperately boring. One of the longer 100 minutes of my life. I'm not sure if the screenplay changed things, but the stage version was entirely lacking in drama. There was never the slightest chance that either

The Arachnid Play

Joe Turner
Not to be pedantic, but the character's name is Herald, not Harold.

The fact that SPace Pope's post is six words long just makes it sweeter.

I've actually not seen it. (Nor have I participated in a pansexual fuckfest, they're just something I support on principle.)
