"But where are the superheroes?
Thanks for that. :)
Where did you feel it wandered? Other than a few tangents, thrown in to set up later stories, I thought that this was pretty focused,
Where did Murphy talk about being molested?
Then, in this episode, we meet a guy who can fly—which is the power apparently held by Abby on the sweater.
I thought these two episodes were a real return to form. I love how half-arsed the Satanist cult was — I suppose it's there to mirror the Shangri-La-La-Land power from way back in the first season season finale — and I was entertained by the whole mental illness/abusive partner stuff with Rudy's dad. Similar power,…
Better than "There's a Whole Slew of Ladies with Bad Things to Say About the Taliban"?
Misty Day because she came back from the dead (I cannot remember the technical term from the show)
His mother's almost definitely going to be revealed as a witch hunter, right?
To be fair to Murphy — not that I really think he deserves it — he seems to be making some kind of point with his male characters this season, about objectification and gender role reversal. Other seasons of the show demonstrated a balance of sorts, so I guess it could be argued that he's, to some degree, earnt this.
I get ya. It's at once making the (largely untrue) argument that being a gay man is equivalent to the experience of being a woman, and furthering the idea that gay men are linked into the kind of cultural space that women are naturally attuned to through some sort of feminine essence bollocks.
THE SEVENTIES CALLED, THEY WANT THEIR SPOILERS BACK
I agree, but I sense that there's a growing interest in this show in particular beyond what monthly reviews would supply. Though I suppose this is something of a test for that.
I'm pretty sure that they can act to disable (Cara taking out that guy in the flashback), but they can't kill directly.
I'm thinking that they'll make John into some kind of villain, but that feels like it's somewhere down the road from where we are now.
1) That's between you and your God, but I'm enjoying it. There's a descent twist at the end of the first episode, and the third and fourth episodes are decent back story episodes. The third's the best so far, but it's no stand-out.
I'm enjoying this show and I enjoyed this episode, but is Charlie a psychopath or what?
I know a lot of people have laid praise at Ben Edlund's feet this season, but I'd like to give a shout out to Paul Grellong, who's written or co-written half of these episodes so far. (2, 4 and now this one). Good job guy.
She went through a shitty time the last few weeks, and seems to be burying herself in work, pushing her vendetta and now drinking a little too much in order to push her feelings down. It's not really a problem, I reckon. More like denial.
I enjoy this show. It's not rocking my world, but it's entirely solid. No-one's particularly weak, a few are intriguing (Cara, John and Stephen partner) and the fights are regularly well directed and thumpin' — there's some nice weight to them, which can be a difficulty with all the weightless CGI being thrown around.
