What do you mean Martin won't advance the main plot? Have you read the books?

This is how I felt about it too. I could see sadness in his eyes when she told him that her mom was on that plane (I don't think he knew), and it seemed like he wanted to come out and admit it, but he just couldn't burn that bridge yet. He loves her too much - or at least he thinks he does - to give her up like that.
