The strongest aspect of Portlandia is the "weird catering to the conventional" and vice-versa. For one example, the funniest aspect of this episode was the guy making the sign for the obnoxious couple. He says next to nothing, and perfectly executes their increasingly ridiculous demands leading to the finest lines.
