You've done pretty well if your movie has 5 or 6 good jokes in it - anything over 10 is very impressive. "The Big Lebowski" has like 100 great jokes in it.
That scene is great, but I'd submit "Uhh, uhh…. it's uhh… it's down there somewhere man, let me take another look - (blubblubblub)" as the best joke in the movie, and this is a movie with like a hundred great jokes in it.
"Cleaver" was pretty good
Yeah, I liked them all, and I actually liked the cartoon-tipping point, i.e., I concede that it was laughable but it was enjoyable-funny laughable, if that makes any sense, e.g.,
Engorge.
The review is merely negligent, HBO is sexist
Indeed - it's not my fault I saw "True Detective season 1"… I'm the victim here!
She must be doing something right
That's an awful lot of words (I didn't actually read it, but it looked like a lot of words as I scrolled down) for a review of a movie in which Daddario appears but does not disrobe.
Agreed re: material - but from the little bit I heard on youtube just a few minutes ago, Caponera's sounds far superior to Ferrell's re: inflection, to me anyway.
Nice, I did not know that!
I'd never heard of John Caponera until I googled him just now and found that you're right - and wow, it's not even close. His Harry Caray is wayyyy better than Ferrell's or anyone else's ever
Me too, though I was a little bummed that Aksel Hennie wasn't given more to do with his bad-guy role. I had just seen and was very impressed by his performance in "Headhunters" so I was hoping they'd give him a juicy part in "24 Live Another Day" but it was pretty much one-note and short-lived. I liked the season a…
I liked all of them, but Season 5 was my favorite.
There's that, but also, there's that whole thing re: Texas Pete is actually made in North Carolina
I can't remember where else in the movie they wove in the TV show music but I can't swear that they didn't - it's been a while since I've seen it so I probably just don't remember.
I like the Christine Ricci story better!
Edited to correct that, and it's not a nit-pick at all - I'm a huge Coen Bros fan and the story is much funnier if it's Sonnenfeld (which it is), coming into his own as an artist after being a "mere" DP, etc… I was just typing hastily and my brain went "Levinson" (stupid brain!)
I never liked Ralph Fiennes in anything until I saw "Wallace & Gromit Curse of the Were-Rabbit" in which he voiced the rich-guy cad, and ever since then I've liked him in everything I've seen him in
